Recess star Jason Davis has died aged 35, it’s been confirmed.

The grandson of philanthropist Barbara Davis and former 20th Century Fox owner Martin Davis died suddenly on Sunday February 16; his cause of death is still unknown.

‘I am so heartbroken to share the saddest news of my life that my son Jason Davis passed away this morning in Los Angeles,’ his mother Nancy Davis wrote in a statement.

‘Jason had a true heart of gold with such a zest for life. He was such a caring soul to everybody who ever knew him.

‘He loved his friends and his family above all else. We ask for privacy as we take time to grieve this most devastating loss.’

Davis used his voice to portray the ‘gentle giant’ Mikey Blumberg on the hit TV show Recess. The voice actor was in that role from 1997 until 2001 during a whopping six seasons.

But he also starred in Roseanne, Rush Hour and Beverly Hills Ninja.

He also appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which had a look at his treatment for substance abuse, including heroin, OxyContin and Xanax, according to the Daily Mail.

Since then he had been determined with his recovery and co-founded the charity Cure Addiction Now, hunting and funding research to explore new therapies for suffers from substance abuse.

Jason is survived by his two brothers Brandon and Alex as well as his two half-sisters, Isabella and Mariella Rickel.
