Ryan Reynolds crashed Hugh Jackman’s online X-Men reunion, which quickly descended into chaos and I wager that no-one would have thought it would go any other way.

Film reunions happening over Zoom or whatever are all the rage at the moment, as people are raising money for a number of causes because there’s a number of issues happening right now. It seems to have started with Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart, but now everyone’s doing it.

Global Goal: Unite For Our Future is a charity event that merges comedy, music and more for a good cause, and they released a huge fundraising video concert on the 27th June.

In that concert, there was a brief X-Men reunion that was crashed by Ryan Reynolds. It was pretty funny.

By their own admission, Global Goal featured Shakira, Coldplay, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Justin Bieber and Quavo, Miley Cyrus, Chloe x Halle, J Balvin, Yemi Alade, Christine and the Queen, and more, but it was Reynolds who seemingly ruined everything as he tore apart Hugh Jackman’s meeting.

Jackman originally intended for the video to be an original X-Men cast reunion, with Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry and (absent) Ian McKellen, but Reynolds quickly showed up with some new era X-Men actors, making the others speedily leave and then leaving themselves until it was just Hugh and Ryan left.

And you know what Hugh and Ryan means? That’s right; X-Men: Origins.

I mean it’s obviously scripted, isn’t it?

I suppose you could call it a sketch, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t funny. You know what? I liked it. Thought it was good. I though ‘huh, pretty good, that.’

You can quote me on that one, Global Goal. You can watch the whole thing here…

What I didn’t expect was to feel bad for Liev Schreiber.

He looked so excited to do an X-Men: Origins reunion, and then they all left. Poor guy.

You know what? I don’t know if this is a controversial opinion or not, but I really liked him as Wolverine’s brother – he was really great. Very menacing.

The film isn’t good, that much is obvious, but the scene where he kills either Merry or Pippin from Lord of the Rings is fantastic.

Actually it’s not as good as I remember.

That’s life.
