Good news, SATC fans. It’s been confirmed that Carrie Bradshaw and friends are returning for a new series… but without Samantha.

The new series will be called And Just Like That… and will feature all of the stars apart from Kim Cattrall.

US streaming service HBO Max shared the news yesterday, plus three of the four stars of the original show shared a trailer for the series.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will be recreating their iconic roles from the 90s and 00s. Hopefully, some of the weird outfit choices will remain, because let’s face it, that was part of the appeal.

The original series first aired in 1998. If you’ve never seen it,  Sex and the City starred sex and relationships newspaper columnist Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), who was fashion-obsessed. Joining Carrie were her three friends, Miranda (Nixon), Charlotte (Davis) and Samantha (Cattrall).

The show lasted for six seasons, winning seven Emmys and eight Golden Globe awards. It still influences popular culture today with references to Mr Big, as well as people questioning how much money Carrie would have been earning really as a columnist.

At the time, the show was praised for its forthrightness about sex but has been heavily criticised since for the lack of diversity. Carrie was involved in an on-again off-again relationship with her main love interest, Mr Big.

After the series ended, two feature films were released. Fans weren’t as convinced by the movies than the show, so the ratings prove it.

The trailer shared by the cast is mainly made up of shots of New York and gives little away for the plot.

From Their 30s To Their 50s

A statement from HBOMax’s parent company WarnerMedia says the series would “follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

Fan’s aren’t sure so far on Twitter, because many are sad that Samatha isn’t appearing.

Also, fans have been coming up with suggested plots for why Samantha is missing.

Plus someone else made an alarming point about their ages.
