Stephen King has praised the new Jesse Eisenberg horror film Vivarium, saying it blew him away.

Of all of the people to understand horror, you’d be forgiven for thinking few could live up to the expertise of Stephen King; the man who’s dreamed up more scary situations than you’ve had hot dinners.

With that, when he goes and commends Vivarium for being a great new horror film, it might be worth putting whatever you’re watching on hold to give it a go.

Written by Lorcan Finnegan and Garret Shanley, directed by the former and starring Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots, the synopsis for the new film. reads:

Hoping to find the perfect place to live, a couple travel to a suburban neighbourhood in which all the houses look identical. But when they try to leave the labyrinth-like development, each road mysteriously takes them back to where they started“.

Honestly you could have just left it at “a young couple try to buy their first house” and that’s completely terrifying itself. Probably too unrealistic though…

Looks pretty creepy doesn’t it? Released in the Cannes Film Festival in May 2019, the film more or less flew under the radar when it was made available for public release almost a year later in March of this year.

In regards to the film, Stephen King took to Twitter, writing:

VIVARIUM (Hulu) blew me away. Rich and strange. If you love it, thank me. If you hate it, don’t blame me“.

Bit of a win-win for him there, isn’t it?

As those of you not from the States might have noticed, the film is available on Hulu, which isn’t a service that we can get our hands on. Rather happily though, if you have a fiver to spare, you can rent the film on Amazon Prime Video (or you can buy it for three pounds extra).
