I didn’t like it that much though. Ever since Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, I feel like loads of American production companies decided it makes TV shows better when there’s pointless nudity, gratuitous gore and the word c*nt every twelve seconds; The Boys is one of them.
I get that some of it is necessary to convey the plot and the general tone – and I’m not a prude – but come on, I don’t need to see Alex Hassell’s dick for literally no reason.
Anyway, I think I’m the only person who has these problems with the show and clearly Amazon aren’t put off by it as they’ve already commissioned a second season.
The first season follows a group of vigilantes who are hellbent on taking down The Seven – essentially the Avengers – who are actually some pretty evil people with ulterior motives behind their outward heroic acts.
It’s pretty brutal, as you might expect, and now you can expect more.
Filming for season two already began this summer, which is a lot sooner than anyone expected, so that means it’s likely we’ll have the new episodes this time next year, probably coinciding with the season one release anniversary.
Returning will be Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as The Female and Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir.
Despite what I said, I’ll probably still watch this…

Alfie Powell joined as an apprentice and was probably hired because he was likely the only person who applied. He's been blagging his way through writing articles for four years now and he's definitely showing signs of slowing down. When not writing for The Hook, Alfie finds time to indulge in his favourite hobbies, such as drinking and sitting down.Follow
