We’ve known for a while that there’d be a sequel, with actor John Krasinski recently confirming that filming had wrapped.
John revealed the news on Twitter by posting a picture of the clapboard for scene one, take one of the movie.
The initial A Quite Place 2 teaser trailer dropped over the past month, picking up after the events of the first movie where John Krasinski’s character gave his life to protect his children so they could survive with their mother.
Well, it’s one again being directed by Blunt’s hunkie hubby and stars Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, and Djimon Hounsou. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine after that 30-second tease, but here’s the official synopsis for A Quiet Place Part II from Paramount:
“Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”
However, in a recent interview with Total Film, Krasinski has said we’ll see Evelyn and the kids battle with the concepts of survival versus thriving in the post-apocalyptic landscape.
He said: “I love the idea of the first one, that Emily and I as characters were all about surviving versus the thriving. All [my character] wanted to do was survive.
“And [her character] says, ‘That’s not enough. We have to thrive. We have to let these kids be whole human beings.’ And after I’m gone, I’m loving seeing Emily really battle with that – that maybe survival was the way to go. And maybe this idea of thriving was too dangerous.”
Furthermore, he told The Big Picture podcast: “[With A Quiet Place Part II], we have the world. So it’s actually the world that’s built, it’s the idea that the rest of the world is going through this exact same experience. Are there other people that have to survive like this?
“It’s that idea of living through the set of circumstances, not again in the same way obviously, but exploring it more. You only got to do it intimately for a small amount of time, so what happens next?”
Fans everywhere can see A Quiet Place Part II in cinemas on 20th March, 2020.
