There’s good news for fans of the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie musical, as it’s heading from the stage to the silver screen.
Thanks to COVID many people have been sorely missing a trip to the theatre, and hopefully this will scratch that itch for now,
The trailer has been released and fans are very excited to say the least.
The film is set to be released next February, so there’s a little while to wait yet,
The lead role of Jamie New will be played by Max Harwood, who was selected following an open casting call.
Acting legend Richard E Grant plays Hugo and his alter ego Loco Chanel, with Sarah Lancashire playing Jamie’s mum, Margaret New. Sharon Horgan stars as Miss Hedge and Shobna Gulati will beRay, after starring in the role in the West End. The has been directed by Jonathan Butterell, who directed the original stage show too.
The show and film are based on the true story of Jamie Campbell. He decided he wanted to be a drag queen as a teenager, and it’s the story of his trials and tribulations at school because of it, with the help of his mum Margaret who supports him.
The stage version won three WhatsOnStage Awards last year, including Best New Musical and it was nominated for five Olivier Awards.
Prepare to laugh and cry.
