Rumour has it that former Peter Parker actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are returning for the new Spider-Man film.

So how exactly is this gonna work, seeing as Tom Holland is the current Spidey?

According to reports from Collider, it’ll be a multi-verse film which would somehow see the film flip between different eras.

Yes, that means that all three of the actors will likely be playing Spiderman in some way shape or form.

Holland himself has even described the plot of the film as “absolutely insane”, so we’ll have to believe it.

The idea of a multiverse film won’t be too shocking for those who are die-hard Marvel fans, as they’ve previously explored this in the animated series.

Apparently, the only thing that needs to be figured out is striking a deal between Sony and Marvel for Maguire, which shouldn’t be too tough.

The last movie in the Spider-Man franchise, Far From Home, was the highest-grossing Spider-Man film of all time when it was released last year, so the newest instalment will undoubtedly be popular too, especially if all the favourites are back!

And it’s not just the Spiderman’s they’re bringing back, it’s recently been reported that Alfred Molina could indeed return to play Doctor Octopus and that Jamie Foxx could be reprising his role as Electro.

When it comes to the main character’s love interests, there’s potential for Emma Stone to return as Gwen Stacy and Kirsten Dunst to play Mary Jane Watson once more.

At the moment it’s been confirmed that Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, and Jacob Batalon are returning for the film, and  Jon Watts is directing.

A new addition to the cast is  Benedict Cumberbatch, who is playing Doctor Strange.

The film allegedly started filming in New York back in October this year, and it’s currently expected to be released in December 2021 so we have a long way to go.

Here’s hoping we’ll actually be allowed to go to the cinema when this one is ready for release –  we miss it!
