Trailer for Netflix’s Dark Crystal prequel – The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance – is here and it looks fantastic

Netflix just keep on giving us the good stuff, baby!

Admittedly I’m peeved about them hiking up their subscriptions prices but my peevedness (?) has already disappeared after watching the frankly astonishing first trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance.

A prequel to the 1982 classic, Age of Resistance is a ten-episode fantasy series following three young Gelflings—Rian (Taron Egerton), Deet (Nathalie Emmanuel), and Brea (Anya Taylor-Joy) who “inspire a rebellion against the cruel Emperor when they discover a horrifying secret.”

The series, based on J.M. Lee’s recent Dark Crystal companion novels Shadows of the Dark Crystal and Song of the Dark Crystal, appears to take place in the years immediately after an event described in the original movie, with the Gelflings undertaking a journey to save their dying planet, Thra, with the villainous Skeksis controlling the Crystal of Truth and spreading sickness everywhere.

Honestly, the visual are incredible, and have been updated for the digital age to show the characters navigating immense and vivid worlds.

Just let me at it!

In the trailer, we see one of those Gelflings, Deet, with a voice warning her that “all Thra is at risk. The darkening corrupts everything it touches.”

We also get a look at Aughra, a wise astronomer from the movie.

“I see many endings laying before us,” she says. “Some good, most bad.”

Check it out!

This looks beautiful and I can’t wait to binge on it.

You can’t either – admit it.

The series premieres on Netflix on August 30th, 2019. Get it in your watch list right now.
