Rejoice, hallelujah… good news for Sister Act fans, as Whoopi Goldberg has hinted that a Sister Act 3 movie may finally be about to happen.
Whoopi joined James Corden on The Late Late Show, and James told her what a fan he is of the film franchise and asked her why a third film never made an appearance.
Fans of the film may be surprised to hear that Whoopi insists no movie bosses thought anyone wanted one. She said: “For a long time they kept saying no one wanted to see it and then quite recently it turns out that may not be true, people might want to see it.”
There’s nothing set in stone yet though, says Whoopi: “So we’re working diligently to figure out how to get the gang together and come back. It’s a really fun movie, it feels good and nobody’s mad, it’s just, like, listen, bad singing, great singing, ok singing, and then nuns. What’s better than that?”
The first film came out in 1992 and was a box office smash, and the sequel Sister Act 2: Back in The Habit was released in 1993.
The troupe reunited briefly in 2017 to perform a version of Peggy March’s “I Will Follow Him” with her Sister Act choir, but that’s the closest fans have got.
Fans are excited by the news.
Will you be praying for a reunion?
