I’ve been waiting for them to have a resurgence for years – much like the vinyl – and who knew all it would take was the outbreak of a pandemic (without meaning to sound reductive).
It’s funny that as many of our liberties have been stripped away, it’s old forms of entertainment, not modern technologies, that people are seeking out.
At present, you’re quids-in if you’re a bog roll company or a game-maker, and cashing in on this fact, someone’s made a pretty epic 3,000 piece Harry Potter-themed Hogwarts puzzle.
It’s basically a lovely picture of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry along with its magical grounds, all encompassed in an ornate white box.
Priced at $29.99, the jigsaw is available to pre-order for June 2020 from toy and game emporium Entertainment Earth, and ships internationally.
However, if you’re more of a Disney person, then fear not, as game-makers Ravensburger have forged a 40,000-piece puzzle made up of scenes from 10 classic Disney movies.
The near 7-metre length puzzle features 10 scenes from childhood classics including Snow White, Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King.
Each film is framed by a film reel, so when you do eventually complete it it looks all pretty and stuff.
Sadly, said game-making companies realise the demand for such puzzles at the moment, which is presumably why they’ve hiked their prices up to extortionate levels.
This Ravensburger Disney jigsaw will set you back a whopping £295 on Jigsaw Puzzle Direct, which is objectively too much to pay for a jigsaw.
Having said that, you may have saved a fair bit over the past few weeks by not going outside, so this could be the treat you deserve.
Go on, you only live once.
