Just in case for some reason you really want a memento of this utterly bizarre year we’ve found ourselves in, you can now buy a 2020 scented candle.
It’s made up of four layers designed to remind you of the year.
The layered fragrances include banana bread (remember when everyone was obsessed?) in homage to the home bakers.
Next there’s hand sanitiser, just in case you haven’t got bored of that scent yet.
Another layer is a wood musk fragrance, said to represent the DIY projects many people have undertaken over the last few months with all of this free time.
The final scent is the oddest of all…. budget aftershave. Why, you ask? To pay tribute to Joe Exotic from Tiger King.
It feels like a lifetime ago that the series came out, but it was only March.
Made by online retailer Flaming Crap, it’ll set you back £14.99.
They’re the first to admit the fragrance combination isn’t the most alluring: “Do these smells complement each other? Not particularly, but a slightly off scent seems rather fitting for the year of a global pandemic.”
Rest assured it’s made with ethically sourced and environmentally friendly materials, like vegan kerasoy wax as well as recycled labels and packaging.
Oliver Burr, co-founder of Flaming Crap had this to say: “Many people have mixed feelings about this year, it’s been tough on many levels, but others valued their time in lockdown. Our candle is reminiscent and a reminder of some of this year’s most prominent themes, and a completely unique gift this festive period. A way to remark this year in a fun way!”
