We'll soon be launching our easy-to-digest daily roundup of everything you need to know.
You can now decorate your Christmas tree with baubles that look like KFC buckets
Just when you thought Christmas couldn’t get any tackier.
Look, don’t get me wrong; I’m all for some tacky decorations at Christmas time. I sh*t you not, I’m currently writing away at home sat three metres away from a light-up dancing Santa that sings Let It Go sitting on the mantlepiece – so I get it.
But to quote Victoria Bekcham in Spice World:
“I know you said it was going to be tacky, but this is tacky.”
Quit bickering about whether you go with the purple and gold, or red and green colour scheme for the tree this year, ’cause Deliveroo has decided that for you by making the theme of the season fried chicken. Well, technically, easy eats.
Here’s where it gets even tackier. Sorry, Victoria.
Deliveroo releases bauble range inspired by the likes of KFC, Burger king and YO! Sushi
Deliveroo has created eight elaborate baubles all inspired by some of their most popular restaurant partners. Each bauble showcases the top dish of said establishment. So for KFC, we of course have a bucket filled of their famous fried chicken.
The collection also includes the Whopper from Burger King, a crunchy California roll from YO! Sushi, a gyoza from Wagamama, the cheesy bites pizza from Pizza Hut (yasss!), a burger from GBK, the ‘All Hail the Turkey’ burger from Byron and the purple basil pesto Genovese from ASK Italian. Anyone else hungry after all that imagery?
How do I get my hands on those baubles?
Unfortunately, you eccentric tree decorators can’t just hop online and buy these baubles in bulk. Deliveroo has reportedly made around 1,000 of these tacky treasures and they’re up for grabs as part of a festive giveaway. All you need to do to get your hands on one of these baubles is order something through one of the participating restaurants (via Deliveroo, of course) and wait and see whether your order comes with a surprise bauble! Just make sure you eat the right one.
Joe Groves at Deliveroo says:
“Christmas isn’t just about pigs in blankets and brussels sprouts and Deliveroo are here to prove it by giving our customers a foodie treat for their tree. We wanted to show off some of the most iconic dishes available from some of our best-loved restaurants, which are likely to get even Santa drooling as he puts your presents under the tree.”
That’s not funny, Joe. These baubles do look pretty realistic and it’s going to be dark when Santa’s roaming around the house hungry. I just hope you’re ready to fork out the dosh for Santa’s dental bill this year…
So sack off the meal-prep and get your Deliveroo on to be in with a chance of getting your tree “finger lookin’ good” in time for Christmas. Sorry.
