You executive producer Sera Gamble confirms work on season 3 has officially begun

He better be coming to London next.

I’ll do my absolute best to keep this article spoiler-free, ’cause quite frankly you all scare me when I spoil things.

With that being said, if you have yet to watch You season 2 – or God forbid, season 1 – on Netflix, drop whatever you’re doing this weekend and binge. BINGE, I say.

Right now is as good a time as any, as You creator Sera Gamble has just revealed that season 3 of the hit Netflix series is officially in the works.

Sera Gamble.

Gamble posted a picture of herself standing on a doormat sporting the words “hello YOU” on Twitter yesterday, adding:

“We’ve started work on season 3. Just thought you’d want to know. #YouNetflix.”

The thrilling series starring 33-year-old Penn Badgley as the menacing (but kind of hot and adorable, at the same time) as Joe/Will (I’m not going to explain that, or I’ll get in trouble).

News that a third season was on the way broke mid-January, just a few weeks after season 2 premiered on the streaming service – to rave reviews, I might add.

Netflix tweeted:

According to EW, Season 3 will feature 10 new episodes from executive producers Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti, with both Badgley and season 2 addition Victoria Pedretti set to reprise their roles as Joe and Love.

Although Caroline Kepnes (the series is based on her books, You and Hidden Bodies) is currently putting the finishing touches to a third book, it’s yet to be known just how much season 3 will follow it, particularly given the changes the show has already made to the story.

What’s You about?

For those who have been living under a rock for the last couple of years, or have just repeat binged Rick and Morty one too many times, You follows Penn Badgley’s creepy, yet charming and handsome AF, Joe and his unusual courting habits. FYI, Penn can stalk me whenever and however he wants. What a Valentine’s Day that would be.

Don’t judge me. Look at this and then judge me.

Here’s the official synopsis for season 1:

“Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, “What would you do for love?”. When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way. Starring Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, Shay Mitchell, Lucy Padovan and Zach Cherry.”

And for season 2:

The second season follows Joe Goldberg, who upon taking a trip to Los Angeles, has his eyes and obsession set on aspiring chef, Love Quinn. Meanwhile, Candace is back to try and put an end to Joe’s sickening ways.”

There you go, spoiler-free AF. I feel so censored.

You season 3 is expected to land on Netflix in 2021.
