The novelist and father of three, who is married to Katie and has children ages six and one, revealed what transpired on X, the platform that was formerly known as Twitter. He said:
“„Three-year-old came down at 3am and unwrapped EVERYONE’S presents.- Scott Reintgen
The three-year-old did, however, seem to have a very solid reason for his behavior. Scott explained the kid's "version of events" in a later post, attaching a video. He claimed the toddler "wanted to open all the presents so no one was confused" about what they had received.
He said in jest:
“„That’s his story. Also have to add: we’re not mad. He’s a good kid, and it’s a story we’ll tell for the rest of our lives.- Scott Reintgen
The boy had "found his Spider-Man web-shooters, and so he wanted scissors to cut them out," Scott said in an interview.
He had opened "literally everything," Katie said, "from the tiniest eraser to the biggest box."
Scott said,"He wanted us to be able to see our presents so we knew what they were. I think he legitimately just felt that he was doing a service to everyone. He will not do it again next year, we hope."
Scott and Katie made it their mission to keep Christmas a secret from the rest of the family for the remainder of the morning.
"The 6-year-old is very much the rule-follower so the idea that someone would just go down and open all the presents would just be unthinkable to him,"Scott said.
So Katie hurriedly re-wrapped the gifts with the shredded paper so everyone could unwrap their own presents while he put the kids back to bed.
