The main reason for this shift is that millennials live differently, and traditional things no longer matter to us when alternative experiences do.
This has ignited the rise of the ‘experience economy’ and our quest for something different to vlog with our mates, which will undoubtedly see more and more experience-based eateries popping up to tempt us to part with our cash.
We want something that’ll grab our attention and that of our social media following.
And it seems one new restaurant holds just the ticket.
With five different ‘dining environments’ in a whopping 18,000 sq. ft. basement at the Crown Estate’s Grade II listed venue on Brewer Street, near Piccadilly Circus – the announcement of a new Batman-themed restaurant sounds absolutely epic.
It will undoubtedly give rise to a FOMO (fear of missing out) effect for millennials with 7 out of 10 experiencing FOMO driving an increasing ‘experiential appetite’.
Situated in the heart of the capital, the venue is set to open its doors in spring 2020.
The restaurant is being launched in a partnership between Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC, and Wonderland Restaurants – a private equity-backed business founded by entrepreneur, James Bulmer.
Bulmer says: “Trends in our sector are moving towards fun, immersive and experiential dining and our aim is to demonstrate this on a grand scale with exceptional food and drink to match”.
“I am still a child at heart, inspired by the greatest stories and storytellers”.
“For me, great food experiences are about unlocking guests’ emotions and creating edible memories”.
And we couldn’t agree more.
Diners will step down into a room resembling Batman’s lair where they will find three bars and five different DC character inspired rooms to dine in.
Park Row’s website describes the upcoming restaurant as an ‘immersive DC-inspired restaurant experience’.
The Iceberg Lounge is set to be the largest and will be dedicated to Batman comic book villain, The Penguin.
It will feature an international menu, cocktail bar and live entertainment.
Prices will average at around £45 per head and although for a traditional dining experience this may seem a little hefty – it seems a small price to pay for a DC inspired dine.
There will also be a Harley Quinn-inspired restaurant and an Old Gotham City speakeasy, serving cocktails and sharing platters.
The Monarch Theatre, Park Row’s multi-sensory tasting menu experience will use projection-mapping technology ‘to explore the psychology of heroism through food’.
DC fans will be queuing around the block.
It looks set to be a real destination dining spot.
The upcoming Batman movie, known simply as The Batman, will star Robert Pattinson as the lead character and will also star the likes of Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell and Paul Dano – it is set to be released June 25, 2021.
We were recently treated to a first look at him as the infamous bat.
And while we patiently await its release we can indulge in what promises to be good food, great cocktails and marvel at our DC-inspired surroundings.
