‘Space Rangers’ (1993)

Space Rangers (1993)

In 1993, CBS took a risk on this cult space drama, but the show didn't endure very long. The heroes of Space Rangers are the misfits of the Space Rangers Corps, humanity's last line of defense against the criminal elements in space travel.
Even though there were only six episodes total, they were all excellent. Fun stepping stone for future greatness: Jack McGee, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Clint Howard, and Linda Hunt all appeared in this.

‘Andromeda’ (2000-2005)

Andromeda is yet another brilliant show created by the brilliance of Gene Roddenberry. This story follows Captain Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo), who travels to the far future in search of peace but is trapped in an event horizon for hundreds of years.
After being uncovered, Hunt assembles a new crew and sets out to restore harmony to the cosmos. These characters include Steve Bacic's Rhade, Brandy Ledford's Doyle, and Laura Bertram's Gemini. The thrills and laughs over all five seasons are never-ending.

‘Defying Gravity’ (2009)

ABC's "Defying Gravity" - Sneak Peek Trailer

In hindsight, it's sort of hard to imagine that "Defying Gravity" was really a legitimate show that was produced for broadcast television - even one that starred Ron Livingston! It's not only that the tone of the ABC drama about a crew of astronauts going on an epic tour of the solar system was far closer to "Grey's Anatomy" than "The Right Stuff."
Romantic entanglements and all. What was seen on broadcast, though, was remarkable because it made a genuine attempt to root the tale in ways that rendered the scenario as realistically conceivable as possible.
That is, until the glowy space pebbles appeared, which was all part of a sequence of twists that the creator of the program, James Parriott, stated after the project was canceled would have led to some of the most insane television in the history of the medium. We found "Defying Gravity" to be a really peculiar presentation, and we wished there had been more of it.

‘Firefly’ (2002)

Serenity Official Trailer #1 - Morena Baccarin Movie (2005) HD

Firefly, one of Joss Whedon's finest works, is a space Western drama series. Science fiction enthusiasts were introduced to a brand new world thanks to this series, which followed the crew of outcasts onboard the Serenity under the command of Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion).
Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, and Adam Baldwin, all of whom are fantastic, were in the program. The program was cancelled before the first season had finished airing, but it has since become a cult classic, with its own movie and constant demands for more installments.

'Virtuality' (2009)

FOX Virtuality : Behind The Scenes B-roll Footage

In 2009, "Virtuality" generated a lot of early hype since it marked Ronald D. Moore, creator of "Battlestar Galactica," returning to science fiction television with a pilot directed (brilliantly!) by Peter Berg.
In addition, the cast is impressive: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ("Game of Thrones"), Kerry Bishé ("Halt and Catch Fire"), Joy Bryant ("Parenthood"), Jose Pablo Cantillo ("The Walking Dead"), Ritchie Coster ("Happy! "), James D'Arcy ("Cloud Atlas," "Agent Carter"), Clea DuVall ("Veep"), Omar Metwally ("The Affair"), and Jimmi Simpson ("The idea was also intriguing, albeit it was similar to that of "Defying Gravity" (which also came out that year): a group of people go on a perilous trip into deep space while being filmed live as part of a reality program that would be broadcast to Earth.
However, "Virtuality" focused less on strange glowing pebbles from space and more on two major themes: The environmental challenges now besieging Earth make the crew's mission all the more crucial, since they might spell the end of human civilization.
The crew's principal source of amusement, a virtual reality system that allows them to play out their wildest imaginations, is severely broken. There were a lot of promising concepts here, but the program never got past its one summer 2009 showing on Fox. However, the whole pilot episode is still for sale on DVD.
